A Virtual Challenger is anyone interested in raising funds in the spirit of the Lobo Cancer Challenge. Virtual Challenger registration is available for those who are not participating in the routes based at University Stadium on Saturday, September 28, 2024, but are able to raise funds in support of the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Please note: In order to receive your T-shirt and Bib prior to the September 28 event date, Virtual Challengers need to register no later than September 13, 2024.

Virtual Challenger Overview

Who may participate?

Virtual Challengers can be anyone: family or friends living outside of New Mexico, event volunteers, or local supporters of the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. We encourage people from around the globe to participate virtually with us in the 2024 Lobo Cancer Challenge.

Like other participants, Virtual Challengers have their own online fundraising page, are eligible for fundraising incentives, and may start or join a team.

Virtual Challengers have a registration fee of $40 and a suggested fundraising minimum of $100. The registration fee includes your official Lobo Cancer Challenge T-shirt and Bib.

You can take the opportunity to set your own target, challenge and inspire yourself, and motivate your donors to help you reach your goal!

One hundred percent of the funds you raise go directly to support your choice of program in cancer patient care, research, community outreach, or medical education and training at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Customize your page and it will tell your story every time you share it.

When you register as a Virtual Challenger, you can set up a fundraising goal of your choice, and customize your online fundraising page to share with others.

We encourage you to use your online page to tell others why fighting cancer means something to you, and why you chose the program you want to support. Your supporters can donate to your cause right on your page.

Here’s an idea:

A Virtual Challenger may tie their fundraising to an activity or event. Is there something you already do that you love? Dedicate an activity for each donation. Or, if it is something you do on a regular basis, how about dedicating a month of activities to your fundraising Challenge?

You may also “choose a Challenge.” Do you want to dedicate volunteer service as your Challenge? Or, you could take a hike outdoors in nature. Do you enjoy arts and crafts? What about producing crafts to sell for donations to your chosen fund? Do you have other favorite activities that could be ideas for fundraising? These may be completed on or before September 28, 2024 if needed.
