2017 Heme Team 100 mile riders!

Heme Team

The Heme Team will ride and run to honor patients in their struggle against Hematological Malignancies. You are welcome to join the Heme Team, even if you choose to support other areas of cancer research and patient services. We all have been touched by friends and family with cancers such as lung, colon, breast, and prostate.

Hematological malignancies represent a special challenge, since they vary so widely in their type and levels of aggressiveness. Unlike "solid" tumors, Hematological malignancies are wide-spread or "metastatic" from day 1, so a special emphasis is placed on medical therapies, that treat the whole body.

The Hematological Malignancies program at the University of New Mexico, has been growing steadilty over the last 3 years. Our physician's specialize in leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, stem cell transplantation, as well as leading clinical trials in these areas.

The Lobo Cancer Challenge will help us fight cancer together. We're committed to raising funds to help people facing cancer in our community. Every dollar we raise — 100 percent of it! — goes to cancer research and cancer patient care at The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Did you know that…

  • The UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only cancer center in our state with designation from the National Cancer Institute — making it a Comprehensive center among the top 3% in the country.

  • The UNM Cancer Center’s 130 board-certified oncology (cancer) doctors include cancer surgeons in every specialty, adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists.
