My name is Philip Barela, team captain of dirtbags. My team and I are participating in the Lobo Cancer Challenge to help raise money for cancer research. This is a local event put on by the UNM Cancer Research Facilities. My team and I will be riding 25 miles on September 14, 2019 and collecting donations to fight cancer. I am willing to bet that every one of our lives has been obstructed by some form of cancer, whether you have had cancer personally or know someone who has had it. These terrible diseases are aggressive and take a strong will to get through even after one is cured. I am asking for your help us meet and exceed our fundraising goal of $250 per rider. As team captain I will keep raising my goal once my initial goal is met. I will raise it $100 each time a new goal is met until the deadline of September 16, 2019. As a student, father, and full-time employee in a restaurant I know how time and money are hard things to come by. However, I ask you to make a small sacrifice and match my $50 donation. If you can't make the $50 happen, we will gladly accept any dollar amount you are able to part with. All the money raised will go 100% to cancer research and potentially help you or someone you know and love in the future.
Join us in the Lobo Cancer Challenge. We are an incredible community of riders, runners, walkers and virtual challengers who are passionate about fighting cancer.
Won’t you help me in this fight? Every single dollar helps me towards my fundraising goal, and it stays right here to help people in New Mexico.
ALL of the funds raised by the Challenge — 100% — support cancer patient care, research, community outreach, and education and training at The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Participants commit to bicycle rides or a 5K run/walk held on September 14, 2019. Cancer affects us all, so we are “all in” to fight cancer together.
I truly appreciate your support!
