YÁ'ÁT'ÉÉH (HELLO)

My name is Dakotah. I'm an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation and I’m water-flows-together people born for black sheep people. I participated in the UNM Lobo Cancer Challenge for the first-time last year and was the team captain of the cancer health equity team.

The #LoboCancerChallenge is important to me because cancer is the leading cause of death among indigenous peoples in New Mexico and funds raised from this event will provide much-needed support to our indigenous relatives who seek care at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center. I’m honored to be selected as an ambassador for the 2021 Lobo Cancer Challenge. As an advocate for cancer health equity, I honor my relatives who are cancer survivors or have passed from cancer. My hope is that more indigenous peoples participate in cancer screenings to reduce their risk of cancer and inspire each other to live healthier.

Join my team, Tenacious Turtles. Participants commit to engage in their own challenge which will take place on or be completed by September 25, 2021.

If you prefer to donate and not participate in the Lobo Cancer Challenge, click the “support us” button above to make a gift today.

Every single dollar helps me toward my fundraising goal. All of the funds raised by the challengers – 100% – support cancer patient care, research, community outreach, or education and training at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center in Albuquerque.

Cancer affects us all, so we are “all in” to fight cancer together. Let’s #UniteAgainstCancer!

I truly appreciate your support!

Dakotah
